Concord Church Position Description Job Title: Graphic Designer Reports to: Marketing Director General Summary Concord Church is looking for a dynamic, self–motivated individual as a Graphic Designer. This individual is responsible for designing graphics to assist the Senior Pastor, Concord Church and its respective ministries in communicating effectively with the membership and community. Essential Functions Creative Development • Develops creative concepts and designs that effectively communicate the vision of the Senior Pastor & Pastoral Staff and discerns what the ministry leaders are looking for in terms of design, image and viewer impact. • Designs multifaceted communication material for a variety of ministry projects including: educational, promotional, capital development, and recruitment projects. This includes Sunday bulletins, brochures, posters, flyers, audio visual aids, banners, signage, product packaging, logos and website graphics. • Finds the most effective way to get messages across using a variety of methods such as color, type, illustration, photography, and various print and layout techniques. • Works with the Marketing Director to provide professional recommendations for concept, design and production to the senior pastor, pastoral staff and team members. • Must have ability to take projects from the concept stage and develop the overall layout and design. Marginal Functions Administrative • Reliably meets deadlines & inspires others to do the same by example; Refuses to allow distractions to prevent timely completion of creative projects; Demonstrates trustworthiness and dependability. • Effectively and consistently communicates with the Marketing Director and keeps them abreast of the status of pending projects. • Must have proven, strong organizational skills and maintain project files so that they are easily accessible. • Must be able to multi-task by working on more than one design at a time and manage multiple assignments with minimal supervision. • Must have proven ability to function well in a multi-project, high volume environment while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. • Adapts to changes in deadlines and changes in the nature of assignments as well as departmental procedures. • Demonstrates excellent ability to anticipate problems during the creative process and develops contingency plans when necessary. • Works well with others and demonstrates a willingness to work as a team to complete creative and multimedia projects. • Stays abreast of new technologies and software. General Requirements • Believe and confess Jesus Christ as their personal savior and Lord. • Commitment to serve Jesus Christ and the mission of Concord Church. • Must be creative across multiple target audiences: Children, Youth, Women, Men, etc. • Ability to take initiative and solve problems-self starter. • Able to prioritize and perform multiple tasks. • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design, Acrobat, Flash. • Proficient in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. • Familiarity with Final Cut a plus. • Exhibits a professional approach to the work environment. • Familiarity with advanced photocopier operation. • Familiarity with website use of HTML and CSS are a plus. • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor(s). Education and Experience Bachelors Degree Required 3-5 years experience preferably in a ministry environment Physical Activity Ability to sit and work on the computer for extended periods of time. Approximately 80% of time on the job is spent sitting down. Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
